Charles D. "Chuck" Neuenschwander, 88, of Bluffton, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at Christian Care Retirement.
He was born Oct. 20, 1927, in Wells County to William G. and Lizzie (Schwartz) Neuenschwander. He married Doris J. Fiechter Dec. 5, 1948, in Wells County; she survives.
Chuck was a farmer for 20 years, worked for Farm Fans Inc. as a design engineer for 22 years before retiring in 1988. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and spending time in the outdoors and in nature. He was instrumental in the development of Apostolic Christian Church in Indianapolis. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Bluffton.
He is survived by his wife, Doris J. (Fiechter) Neuenschwander; three sons, Dee (Laura) Neuenschwander of Bluffton, Dan (Tammy) Neuenschwander of Greenfield and Dennis (Cathy) Neuenschwander of Greenfield; five daughters, Deb (Gary) Garman of Ossian, Cindy (Phil) Lockwood of Bluffton, Sheri Cress of Bluffton, Kathy (Tom) Freed of Greenfield, and Andrea Sipe of Monroe; two sisters, Betty (William) Frauhiger of Bluffton and Joyce (Howard) Baumgartner of Bluffton; a sister-in-law, Irene Neuenschwander of Bluffton; 23 grandchildren; 42 great-granchildren — three are expected in 2016; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, William and John Neuenschwander; and six sisters, Virgil Isch, Ellen Fiechter, Anna Frauhiger, Ada Gerber, Martha Heyerly and Lucile Grandlienard.
A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 15, at Apostolic Christian Church East, with Ron Kipfer and Doyle Frauhiger officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at the Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery, Vera Cruz, IN
