Charles Speheger, Jr., 87, of Grand Rapids, Mich., died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at the Spectrum Health, Rehab and Nursing Center in Grand Rapids. A native of Bluffton, he was born on July 14, 1923, to Charles and Mary Rose (Meyer) Speheger, Sr., served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was retired from General Electric. Survivors include a daughter, Leisa (Paul) Snow of East Grand Rapids, Mich.; two grandsons, Nathaniel Snow and Noah Snow of East Grand Rapids; a brother, James Speheger and a sister, Ann Pollard, both of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and additional survivors Sandra and Robert Crosley, and Brooke Green. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, George Pollard. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 8 at Spectrum Health, Rehab and Nursing Center, 4118 Kalamazoo Ave., Grand Rapids, Mich. A graveside service will be held at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in rural Adams County at a later date. Preferred memorials are to the Humane Society of West Michigan.
