Charlie was born in Adams County, on Sept. 26, 1931, to Fred and Kathryn (Kipfer) Gerber. He married Marilyn Neuenschwander in Bluffton on July 19, 1964; she survives.
Charlie attended Latty High School in Latty, OH, and served in the United States Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany from 1952 until 1954. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church and retired from Kitco Inc., after 27 years of service.
He enjoyed painting, especially painting hand saws and giving them out to his family members. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle friend and uncle, and will be especially remembered for his smile.
In addition to his wife, Charlie is survived by a brother, Roger (Eunice) Gerber of Paulding, OH; and two sisters, Shirley Fiechter and Nancy (Keith) Honegger, both of Bluffton.
Aside from his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Gerber; and two sisters, Luella Schladenhauffen and Marguerite Stoller.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020, at 2:00 P.M., at the Bluffton North Apostolic Christian Church, with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church. Ryan Bertsch and Doyle Frauhiger will officiate. Burial will follow at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Adams County.
