Charles D. "Charlie" Fiechter, 73, of Bluffton, died at 1:54 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Mr. Fiechter was a lifelong farmer. He was a 1955 graduate of Berne High School and was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. He was born March 11, 1937, in Adams County, to William Fiechter and Salome Aeschliman Fiechter. He married Maxine Gerber Oct. 18, 1959, in Bluffton; his wife survives. Also surviving are three sons, David (Sandra) Fiechter, Brad (Lynn) Fiechter, and Ryan (Sherri) Fiechter, all of Bluffton; nine grandchildren, Jason, Nick, Chase, Kara, Dillon, Josh, Jalen, Gabe, and Noah; five great-grandchildren, Carter, Mason, Adalynn, Kinzie, and Dane; two brothers, Herman (Phyllis) Fiechter of Bluffton and Carl (Mary) Fiechter of Berne; and a sister, Mary Jane (Claire) Yergler of Bluffton. A sister, Dorothy Fiechter, preceded him in death. Calling will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Apostolic Christian Church East. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Apostolic Christian Church East with John Reinhard and Lynn Fiechter officiating. Burial will be at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Apostolic Christian Church, the Christian Care Retirement Community, or the American Diabetes Association.
