Charleen "Charlie" Ford, 91, rural Bluffton, passed away at 12:55 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24, 2012 at Woodcrest Nursing Center in Decatur. Born in Mt. Vernon, Ill. on Mar. 27, 1921 to Charles and Lena (Highsmith) Ford, she married Harold K. Ford on Apr. 7, 1939 in Paducah, Ky.; he died Jan. 14, 2003. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Bluffton and was an OB nurse at Caylor Nickel Medical Center, retiring in 1988 after 16 years of service. She loved to travel, go to garage sales and enjoyed crossword puzzles. Survivors include her daughter, Loralie Byrd of Bluffton; two sisters, Leslie (Lena) Taylor of Taylorville, Ill. and Claris Dickey of Pawnee, Ill.; a brother, Glen Ford of Girard, Ill.; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Michael A. Ford and Kenneth H. Ford; and two sisters, Ada Dickey and Mary Ford. Services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Goodwin Memorial Chapel with Larry Sprinkle officiating. Calling hours there are Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Six Mile Cemetery, Bluffton. Preferred memorials are to Family LifeCare of Berne.
