Carroll D. Hiester, 80, of Bluffton, IN passed away Thursday morning July 18, 2019 at Adams County Memorial Hospital in Decatur, I
He was born on March 4, 1939 to George A. and Marcella (Ladig) Hiester, they preceded him in death. Carroll married Janice A. (Kaufman) on April 7, 1972 in Tennessee, she survives in Bluffton.
Following high school, Carroll enlisted in the United States Marines in 1957, then onto the United States Army. He served in numerous tours in Viet Nam. Carroll spent his last years of military service in the National Guard, he retired from the military and was a disabled American Veteran. After leaving the military he worked maintenance and security positions for several area factories. He retired in 2001 from Wal-Mart in Bluffton. Carroll was a member of the American Legion Post 111 and Moose Lodge in Bluffton.
Carroll is survived by his wife, 3 sons, Mike (Terri) Hiester of Nashville, TN, Jim Pursley of Ossian and Rex Pursley of Bluffton; 5 daughters, Diana (Robert) Ferguson of Tennessee, Kathy (Don) Hile of Bumpass, VA, Tammy Hiester, Debbie (Scott) Hiester, Teresa (Jeff) Schmidt of Ossian; a brother, Keith (Jo) Hiester of Decatur, IN. He was preceded in death by a son, David Hiester, a sister, Alice Gephart.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at 10:30 AM at the Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel 3220 East SR 124 Bluffton, IN Dr. Bryson E. Bell will officiate services. American Legion Post 111 in conjunction with the United States Army Honor Guard will conduct military graveside rites.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home, and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Legion Post 111.
