Carolyn J. Graves, 78, of Ossian, passed away Saturday morning, July 28, 2018, at Markle Health and Rehabilitation Center, with her family by her side.

Born on February 5, 1940, to Dale and Nora (Maddux) Mechling, Carolyn married Keith L. Graves; he preceded her in death in 1998.

Carolyn attended Ossian High School and was a member of the Red Hat Society "Younger Than Some" group in Ossian.  She attended Ossian United Methodist Church for many years, where she sang in the church choir.

Carolyn and her husband lived in the Crystal Falls area of Michigan for 25 years, along with their family.  She was a homemaker and also a secretary for her family's excavating business, "Graves Excavating".  She loved to read and also enjoyed baking. Carolyn was an avid IU "Hoosier" fan, Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cub's fan. Most of all, Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include three sons, Gregory Graves of Green Bay, WI, Darrel Graves of Iron Mountain, MI, and Rodney Graves of Jacksonville, IL; along with five sisters, Gelene Garton of Bluffton, Lillian Mechling of Huntington, Delora Mechling of Huntington, Nancy Mechling-Garringer of Markle, and Myrtle Sallese of Johnstown, PA; a brother, Dale Mechling of Bluffton; along with five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

There are no public services planned at this time.  Burial will occur at a later date in Michigan.  Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
