Carol Sue Austin, 68, Bluffton, died at 9:25 a.m. Tuesday at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. Mrs. Austin worked for 29 years as a registered nurse at the Caylor- Nickel Medical Center. She was a 1983 graduate of the Purdue School of Nursing. She was a 1958 graduate of Dunkirk High School and was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, where she served on the board of trustees and was active in other activities. She was born July 19, 1940, in Jay County, to Carl M. and Laura Sue Powell Hartman. She married Kenneth M. Austin April 10, 1960, in Redkey; her husband survives. Also suviving are a son, Rev. Stephen (Sherry) Austin of Pendleton; four daughters, C. Marie (Tom) Nunley of Ossian and Sarah (Alan) Shupert, Rebecca Joyce Mygrant, and Rachel (Randy) Grover, all of Bluffton; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Carl L. Hartman of Dunkirk and Merrill P. Hartman of South Dakota; and a sister, Martha (George) Campbell of Albany. She and her brother, Carl, were the first set of twins born at the Jay County Hospital. Calling will be from 1 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Epworth United Methodist Church with Rev. Dick Frederick and Tony Garton officiating. Burial will be at the Six Mile Cemetery Memorials are to the Epworth United Methodist Church.
