Carl J. Pace Jr., 76, of Bluffton, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Carl was born in Bluffton on Sept. 23, 1944, to Carl Pace Sr. and Vergie (Perry) Pace.

A 1962 graduate of Bluffton High School, Carl served in the United States Air Force from 1965 until 1968.  After the military, Carl worked for the Bluffton Police Department and also had his auctioneer's license.  He was a truck driver and trainer for 40 years, retiring from Hiner Transport.  During his career, he achieved the Million Safe Driving Miles and Hiner Driver of the Month awards.

Carl was the founder and lead singer of "Carl Pace & the Stagecoach Band" for many years.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 111 of Bluffton and also Covenant Chapel in Bluffton, where he was a member on the singing group "CC Trio".  Other hobbies of Carl's were hunting, bowling, golfing, singing, and especially socializing with friends.

Survivors include two sons, Carl (Vindy) Pace III of Wabash, and Kerby (Tracey) Pace of Ft. Wayne; a daughter, Kalisha Pace of Fairbanks, AK; a sister, Linda Sneed of Show Low, AZ; five grandchildren, Sheyann (Andrew) Straub, Brock Pace, Jordan Pace, MaKenna Pace, and Drayson Pace; along with a great-granddaughter, Lola Straub.

Aside from his parents, Carl was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Melching; and a brother, Terry Pace.

Private family services are being held at Goodwin Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. The funeral service may be viewed via Facebook live, at 3:00 PM, on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, by clicking on a link that will be posted at the top of this obituary page directly before service time.

Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post 111 in conjunction with the United States Air Forces Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to "The Garage", and mailed to 626 Willowbrook Trl., Bluffton, IN 46714, which is a coffee house, rec. room, and concert hall, designed as an outreach ministry for youth in Bluffton.
