C. Robert Reusser, 92, of Bluffton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, at Christian Care Retirement Community. He was born in Wells County on Jan. 1, 1919, to Gottfried and Carrie (Hostetter) Reusser. He married E. Jane Chenoweth on Oct. 2, 1946, in Bluffton; she preceded him in death on March 6, 1999. A 1936 graduate of Bluffton High School, Mr. Reusser was a lifelong dairy farmer in Harrison Township until his retirement in 1981. He was also the secretary of the Mutual Fire Insurance Company of French Township for 25 years. First and foremost, Robert loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a very active member within the church, and especially enjoyed singing in the choir. He also enjoyed activities such as crossword puzzles and pedaling on his exercise bike. For over 20 years, he and his wife spent their winter months in Florida. He was a member of Hope Missionary Church in Bluffton, and an active member of Gideons International in Wells County. Surviving relatives include three daughters, Nancy (Frank) Halstead of Carlsbad, Calif., Carol (Gary) Foltz of Greenwood and Donna (Boyd) Penrod of Bluffton; four sons, John (Kayleen) Reusser of Bluffton, Timothy Reusser of Brownsburg, David (Cindy) Reusser of Liberty Center and Brian (Julie) Reusser of Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren, Nicholas, Tiffany, Amanda, Christopher and Lindsay Reusser, Ashley and Katie Foltz, Erika (Penrod) Lesh, and Colin and Alex Penrod; and two greatgrandchildren, Owen and Chloe Lesh. He was also preceded in death by one son, James Reusser; five brothers, Virgil, Don and Kenneth Neuenschwander and Karl and George Reusser; and two sisters, Vera Rudy and Edna Alexander. Calling hours will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton and from 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at the Hope Missionary Church in Bluffton. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at the church with Pastor Matt Hartsell officiating. Burial is at Six Mile Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to Gideons International.
