Betty Lou Lockwood, 88, of Bluffton, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Apr. 7, 2021, at Ossian Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Betty was born in Blackford County on Nov. 2, 1932, to Orie and Iva (Hornbaker) Fear.  She married Donald A. Lockwood in Bluffton on Jan. 1, 1953; he survives.

A 1950 graduate of Petroleum High School, Betty worked as a secretary at Bluffton Milling Company for many years.  She then worked for several years for the Wells County Clerk and Treasure offices.  She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Bluffton.

Betty enjoyed attending garage sales, fishing, and traveling.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by a son, Don (Deb) Lockwood of Ossian; a daughter, Deb (Stan) Kunkel of Bluffton; four grandchildren, Lindsay (Bart) Comer, Kyle (Marci) Lockwood, Brent (Danielle) Kunkel, and Chelsea (Stefan) Phillips; along with nine great-grandchildren, Lia Comer, Wrigley, Emry, Soldier, and Canon Lockwood, and Cora, Wesley, Eliza, and Harrison Kunkel.

Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Kenneth Fear; and a sister, Helen Coons.

Private family services are being held at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton, officiated by Dr. Bryson E. "Gene" Bell, with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton.  The funeral service will be available to watch live via a Facebook Live link, which will be posted at 10:00 AM on Saturday, Apr. 10, 2021, at the top of this obituary page.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Reformed Church in Bluffton.
