Betty J. Burnell, 88, passed away Sunday evening, June 12, 2022, at Adams Memorial Hospital in

Decatur, IN.

Betty was born in Clermont, IN, on July 14, 1933, to Perry E. and Margie (Crail) Shaw, both parents preceded her in death. She married Jack W. Burnell, he preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 2006.

She was a graduate of Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, IN. Betty worked most of her life in furniture repair, running her own laundry service and a homemaker. Betty enjoyed crafts, sewing, painting and her love of animals, raising St. Bernard dogs with her husband.

Survivors include a daughter; Shirley (David) Goodwin and a son; James R. Burnell, both of Bluffton, 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by an infant son; David A. Burnell and a daughter; Mary M. (Burnell) Mockus, one infant brother; Robert Shaw.

Private family services were held at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel 3220 East SR. 124 Bluffton, with burial at Six Mile Cemetery, Bluffton. Pastor Bryson (Gene) Bell officiated services.
