Bertha Mae Twigg, 85, of Bluffton, died at 2:42 p.m. Friday , April 8, 2011, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Twigg was born Sept. 3, 1925, in Wells County, to Marion and Nellie M. (Stump) Sutton. She married Virgil M. Twigg Jan. 28, 1950, in Jay County; he preceded her in death Sept. 5, 2002. Mrs. Twigg worked at Jay Garment Co. in Portland. She was also a waitress at South Main Pizza in the mid-1970s and worked at the Linger Inn Motel in Bluffton for 10 years. She was a member of the Nazarene Church in Portland. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, loved reading, needle point work, cooking for her family, and travelling with her spouse on their motorcycle. She was a true friend to many. Surviving relatives include two daughters, Lou Ann (Dale) Wall of Bluffton and Judy (Randy) Collins of Waynesfield, Ohio; one son, Larry Twigg of Indianapolis; two sisters, Norma Garrison of Bluffton and Martha Christian of Coldwater, Ohio; two brothers, Don Sutton of Portland and Bob (Betty) Sutton of Winchester; and six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one greatgreat-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Dorothy E. Twigg; two brothers, Floyd and Richard Sutton; one sister, Betty Bowen; and one half-brother, Cleo Stump. Calling hours will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Sheets officiating. Burial will be at the McFarren Cemetery in Wells County. Preferred memorials are to the family, in care of the funeral home.
