Barbara M. McMurtry, 86, of Bluffton, died at 10:10 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2012, at River Terrace Estates. She was born in Allen County on Feb. 6, 1926, to M. Richard and Bertha M. (Allen) Anderson. She married Jesse C. McMurtry Jr., in Bluffton on Nov. 16, 1937; he preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 2003. Mrs. McMurtry was a homemaker who enjoyed embroidery and making gifts for the family. She was a member of the First Church of Christ. Surviving relatives include a sister, Edith A. Myers of Bluffton. Mrs. McMurtry was also preceded in death by two sisters, Loretta Craig and Monice Hilsmier; and four brothers, Bernard Anderson, Kimsey "Spike" Anderson, Ivan Anderson and Orval Anderson. Calling hours will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 3, at the funeral home with Mark Dauterman officiating. Burial is at Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton. Preferred memorials are to the church.
