Avis J. Starkey of Bluffton and formerly of Janesville, Wisc. passed away at her home Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011. She was born in Viroqua, Wisc. to Ernest and Edna (Hornby) Zitzner. She married Vilas F. Starkey on Nov. 22, 1950 in Vernon County, Wisc. Mr. Starkey passed away Oct. 15, 2000. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Surviving are two sons, Philip (Nola) Starkey of Bluffton and Paul (Ann) Starkey of Ossian; three daughters, Debra Keller of Port Charlotte, Fla., Donna (Mark) Steinke and Edna (Christopher) Dodge both of Janesville, Wisc. A Life Celebration Service will be at 11 a.m. Monday Aug. 15, 2011 at the Sonlight Wesleyan Church 2350 South State Road 1, Bluffton. Family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service. Memorials can be made to the Family Hospice & Palliative Care.
