Fred Pernell, 78, of Bluffton, passed away Wednesday evening, Nov. 18, 2015, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Born in Farmers, KY, on Dec. 2, 1936, to John and Mona L. (Perry) Pernell, Fred married Madeline L. "Maddie" Ruse in Poneto, IN, on March, 10, 1957; she survives.
Fred was a 1955 graduate of Roll High School. He worked at Corning Glass in Bluffton for 18 years and later retired from Chrysler in 1999. He was a member of the Bluffton First Church of the Nazarene.
Fred will be remembered for his love of golf, fishing and gardening. He especially enjoyed spending winters in Florida with his wife.
Aside from his wife, Fred is survived by three daughters, Lisa (Randy) Sills of Poento, and Anette (Bill) McIntire and Lynn (Ryan) Carroll, both of Montpelier; and one son Mike (Jennifer) Pernell of Union, KY. He was also survived by 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Fred was the last of his family, preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton, 3220 East State Road 124, Bluffton, with a funeral service being held immediately following visitation at 3:00 PM. Rev. Steven Spencer will officiate. Burial will take place at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Montpelier, IN, at a later date.
