Avenelle "Avie" (Boxell) B. Berg age 83, passed away at 2:05 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born in Pennville on Sept. 10,1927, to Lewis and Maud (Rigby) Thomas, she was a 1945 graduate of Pennville High School. She married William C."Poppy" Boxell in 1946; he died Nov. 2, 1974. She married Noah F.Berg Jr. in 1981; he died Feb. 26, 2002. A member of the First Church of God, Avenelle retired from Franklin Electric in 1990 after 21 years of service. She also worked at Foster-Forbs in Marion from 1956 to 1967. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Survivors include three daughters, Connie Thompson of Keystone, Cathy (Ronald) Soultz of Jonesboro, and Deb Shearer of Sherman, Texas; two sons, Bill Boxell and Tom Boxell, both of Bluffton; a stepdaughter, Kara Addison of Muncie; and 17 grandchildren, 37 greatgrandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a special friend, Cathy T. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Sue Reasoner; a sister, Chella "Bea" B. Horton; a brother, Lewis "Buddie" N. Thomas; a son-in-law, John Thompson; and four grandchildren, Angela and Kimberly Reasoner, Cindy Williams Shearin, and Travis Boxell. Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel with Pastor Donald Marlowe officiating. Calling hours there are Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F.
