Arden L. Hamilton, 80, of Bluffton, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013 at Heritage Pointe in Warren. Born in Wells County on May 17, 1932 to Otto L. and Marie (Brown) Hamilton, he married Joann Marshall on Aug. 5, 1985 in Crossville, Tenn.; she survives. He was a 1950 graduate of Chester Center High School, where he played basketball. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1952 to 1955. He was a farmer and also worked at Franklin Electric, in the "Tool Crib" for 40 years, retiring in 1996. Arden loved his schnauzer, Zoe. He loved reading and nature, and for 15 years enjoyed spending winters in Texas with his wife, Joann, where he picked up the hobby of water volleyball. Survivors include two sons, Michael S. (Ann) Hamilton of Poneto and Patrick L. (Lynn) Hamilton of Danville, Ind.; two step-children, Jeffery Allen (Connie) Whitesell and Steven James Whitesell, both of Bluffton; a brother, Wendell (Lois) Hamilton of Warren; eight grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. Calling hours are Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton, and Friday for one hour prior to the service, which will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Dr. Bryson Bell officiating. Graveside rites will be provided by the United States Coast Guard Honor Guard in conjunction with the American Legion Post 111 of Bluffton. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery.
