A lifelong resident of Wells County, Anna Rebecca Livingstone passed away on August 20th following a stroke. She was born on March 17, 1923 to Davilla Nelson and Fidelia Romey Decker who were both schoolteachers in local rural schools. She grew up on the family farm near Rockcreek and graduated from Rockcreek High School in 1941. During World War II she worked at the General Electric company in Ft. Wayne. She met Sam Livingstone, her husband of over 50 years, there at the USO. They ran a dairy farm in Lancaster Township for about 35 years where they raised their four children. Ann loved her cows, with favorites named Buttercup, Speckles and Twinkletoes. She passed her love of nature to her children, teaching them about Jack-in-the-Pulpits, cicadas, lunar eclipses, etc. She enjoyed living in Craigville the past year and filled the birdbath, watched some hummingbirds, and admired the blooming Rose-of-Sharon tree two days before her stroke. Ann was preceded in death by her husband and her two brothers, Ivan and Dwight Decker. She is survived by her children: Sam of Waterville, NY, Sue of Seattle, WA, Tom of Williamsport, PA, and Don of rural Bluffton, IN. Grandchildren are Esther, Hans, Dan, Emily and Kimmie Livingstone and Gordon and Sophie Padelford. Ann also had many nieces and nephews and many kind neighbors and friends over the years to whom the family are appreciative. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of floral tributes, please make memorial contributions to Helping Paws Pet Haven of Huntington, IN, or Emmanuel Church and Cemetery.
