Anita F. Sigl, 77, of Fort Wayne and formerly of Bluffton, passed away Tuesday, Apr. 10, 2018, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.

She was born in Fort Wayne on Oct. 7, 1940, to Jesse J. and Victoria L. Basley Putt.  She married Edward D. Sigl in Fort Wayne in 1961; he survives.

Anita graduated from New Haven High School in 1958 and then Saint Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1961.  She was a registered nurse, working in family practice.

Anita had many interests and hobbies, which included furniture refinishing, Spanish guitar, chair caning, starting seeds and gardening.  She was an excellent serious amateur chef who liked to originate original dishes.  Anita operated a small catering business and competed in local barbeque and chili cookoffs.  She was also an avid cookbook collector.

Anita supported the Wells County Library, Wells County Animal Shelter, and the Wells County Foundation.  She was a member of the Three Rivers Players at "This Old House" Theatre, where she was the stage director for many productions.  She was also a member of the Fort Wayne Fencing Club.  Anita and her husband traveled to all parts of the country to enjoy local cuisine.

In addition to her parents, Anita was preceded in death by two brothers, Merle and Donald Putt.

Visitation will be Monday, Apr. 16, 2018, from 3:00 until 7:00 PM, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton.  Services will be held on Tuesday, Apr. 17, 2018, at 11:00 AM, at the funeral home, with one hour of visitation prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in Bluffton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wells County Friends of the Shelter.
