Alice Marie Gerbers, 91, of Bluffton, passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. She was born Dec. 3, 1921, in Tiffon, Ohio, to Jesse L. and Ida Bogner Dornan. She married Gilbert J. Gerbers Feb. 8, 1941, in Fort Wayne. He preceded her in death Oct. 28, 1992. Alice was a homemaker and helped with family farming in the Ossian area. She attended Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing cards with family and attending her grandchildren's many activities. Survivors include a daughter, DeAnn (Dave Shumaker) Poling of Bryant; two sons, Dennis (Karen) Gerbers of Markle and Dale (Debbie) Gerbers of Loveland, Co.; nine grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and her long-time companion, "Gidget," her Shih Tzu dog. She was preceded in death by a brother, Clayton Dornan, and a sister, Lucille Holloway. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mike Gilbert officiating. Calling hours are from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Covington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
