Alfred L. Pearson, 88, of Bluffton, passed away Thursday afternoon, June 2, 2016, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
Born in Montpelier, IN, on Jan. 19, 1928, to R. John and Sarah (Dorah) Pearson; Alfred married Colleen M. Huss in Bluffton on Oct. 31, 1948; she preceded him in death on Sept. 24, 2001.
Alfred was a 1947 graduate of Chester Center High School and was a member of Liberty Center United Methodist Church. He served in United States Army during the Korean War, and was a supervisor for Fruehauf Trailer for 28 years and Hower Tool for 10 years.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 242 of Bluffton and the American Legion Post 111. He enjoyed horse pulling where he had served many years as a contest referee.
Alfred is survived by three sons, Lee Pearson of Liberty Center, Tony Pearson of Ft. Wayne, and Bruce (Mellony) Pearson of New Haven; two daughters, Penni Jo Young of Bluffton and Lisa M. Pearson of Decatur; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild; a brother, William Pearson of Marion; a sister, Carolyn (Vince) Morrison of Rockport, TX; and a special friend, Margaret Oswalt.
In addition to his parents and wife, Alfred was preceded in death by a daughter, Pammy Jo Pearson; three brothers, Rolland J. Pearson Jr., Donald Pearson, and David Pearson; and a sister, Francis Hanson.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 8, 2016, from 2:00 until 8:00 PM at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel. Services will be held Thursday, at 10:30 AM, at the funeral home, with Tony Garton officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton, with military graveside rites conducted by the United States Army Honor Guard in conjunction with the American Legion Post 111 of Bluffton.
Memorial contributions may be given to Visiting Nurse and Hospice or American Legion Post 111.
