Alan R. Steffen, 54, of Richmond, a former resident of Bluffton, died at 8:36 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at Reid Hospital and Health Services in Richmond. Mr. Steffen was born in Bluffton on June 21, 1957, to Max M. Steffen and Eunice A. Kipfer Steffen. Surviving relatives include his mother, a resident of Bluffton, and a brother, Daniel (Jane) Steffen of Tucson, Ariz. Mr. Steffen was preceded in death by his father and two sisters, Kathleen Crum and Kay L. Craighead. Calling hours will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 2, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton.
