Ada M. Gerber, 93, of rural Bluffton, passed away Saturday morning, Oct. 20, 2018, at Adams Woodcrest in Decatur.
Ada was born in Adams County on Dec. 13, 1924, to Levi and Sarah (Reinhard) Schwartz. She married Harry W. Gerber in Adams County on Oct. 27, 1946. He preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 2018.
A 1943 graduate of Kirkland High School, Ada was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. She was a farmer's wife, who helped her husband with the family farming business. She enjoyed traveling, flowers, and gardening. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Rex (Cheryl) Gerber of Bluffton, and Tim (Sheryl) Gerber of Firestone, CO; two daughters, Joni (Dale) Schwartz of Decatur, and Cathy Stucky of Monroe; eight grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Ada was preceded in death by four brothers, Ervin, Ralph, Ed, and Harry Schwartz; three sisters, Martha Gerber, Lula Baumgartner, and Alice Steffen; a son-in-law, Rick Stucky; and daughter-in-law, Lavon Gerber.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, from 2:00 until 8:00 PM, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Services will be held Wednesday morning, Oct. 24 th , at 10:30 AM, at the Apostolic Christian Church East, with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church. Chad Gerber and Ron Kipfer will officiate. Burial will follow at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Adams Woodcrest or the Rick Stucky Community Enrichment Fund.
